Why I strongly dislike politicians
My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better.

Read this today in the "Verbatim" section of Time magazine from earlier this month. This makes me sick. I cannot comprehend the utter idiocy this man must possess to make a statement like this that compares a large portion of his states children to 'stray animals'. I don't curse often, but this one had my Broca's area fired up.
To be fair, I do not know what the context was. If anyone is able to defend him even in the smallest way, let me know. Although I might then start cursing at you. ;-)
Grandpa's Translator in Korea
I spent the evening with my Canadian cousin, aunt, and Grandma and Grandpa Gray. After dinner we got to talking about stories from their life. Grandpa has always had great stories to tell, so I seized the opportunity to get some of it on record, grabbed my iPhone and started recording. Here is one bit that I thought was very fun.
When my mom was 4 years old, her family moved to South Korea with the American Friends Service Committee. As the youngest child, she adapted the quickest to the culture and language, soon becoming the translator for the family and for Grandpa's business interactions. Quite a responsibility, as you'll hear.
How do you keep senior citizens happy?

TED Blog: Provocation: Roundup of TED2010, Session 5
TED2010 was last week. I love TED. I watch talks on TED.com almost daily.
I am especially excited for to see this video when it becomes available online. Two great speakers debating on nuclear power, an audience instructed to boo and hiss, and a vote at the end to see how many are for or against! This should be good!

I am going to try making the move to Posterous, a new blogging engine that has some incredible features, the first of which is SIMPLICITY.
In two weeks I will give a talk at BYU's OPAC, a conference for office professionals (read: older generations who are not active in social networks). I will touch on topics such as Facebook and blogging. I wanted to find the simplest way for them to start blogging, and Posterous is hands down the BEST answer. It doesn't even require creating an account. You can create your first blog post by simply sending an e-mail to post@posterous.com!
Now THAT is simple!
